Two pupils of Alice Elites Academy at Assin Edubiase have died after a school bus conveying more than 40 children was involved in a tragic accident on the Assin Homaho road in the Central Region.
A report by adomonline.com on June 2, 2026, indicated that the deceased, a boy and a girl, were among dozens of pupils travelling in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus when the crash occurred, according to the Commander of the Central North Regional MTTD, DSP Wonder Lumor.
"A total of 40 affected children were rushed to nearby medical facilities immediately after the crash," DSP Lumor confirmed.

He disclosed that 22 victims were taken to St Francis Xavier Hospital, while 18 others received treatment at the Assin Edubiase Health Centre.
"All 40 injured children have been successfully treated by medical personnel and subsequently discharged to their families," he added.
The fatal crash has plunged the Assin Edubiase community into mourning, with grieving families and school authorities struggling to come to terms with the loss of the two pupils.
Police have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
