Two remanded for defiling victims aged 14 and 10

A 35-year-old security man Desmond Elliot Dordzi, on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly impregnating a 14 year old junior high school pupil.

Dordzi, who was charged with defilement, pleaded not guilty.

The court, presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava, remanded him into Police custody to reappear on April 24.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the court that Dordzi is the husband of the victim’s paternal aunt, who had lived with them for the past three years.

ASP Acquah said Dordzi had proposed to the victim and through a letter, he had requested that the victim should have sex with him.

On December 27 last year, at about 22:00 hours, he had sex with the victim, who in the process shouted for help but no one heard her, because Dordzi had covered her mouth with a cloth.

The prosecutor said the victim got pregnant and she informed her aunt. The accused on hearing that the victim was pregnant asked his wife (victim’s aunt) to send her to the parents at Abutia in the Volta Region.

The victim was therefore sent to Abutia and on reaching there, she also informed her parents about the accused person’s conduct.

On March 26, this year a report was made to the Police at the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Tesano in Accra and a medical form was issued to the victim for examination and treatment.

The medical report indicated the victim was three months pregnant.

In another development, the same court has remanded a 48-year-old carpenter, John Hator into prison custody for allegedly defiling a 10 year old girl at Abensu, near Pokuase, Accra.

Hator has denied the charge of defilement and he is to reappear on April 24.

Chief Inspector I.A.A. Ahor said the complainant is the victims mother, a farmer at Pokuase. And that the victim is a class two pupil.

He said on March 26, this year at about 1300 hours, Hator visited the complainant at her house and sent the victim to take two molding machines to a repairer nearby and offered the victim two cedis for the repairs.

When the victim was about to leave, Hator requested to go with the victim to the repairers shop and on their way, Hator collected the GH¢2.00 for safekeeping.

On reaching the shop, the accused failed to give the money to the victim and left to his house.

After the repairs, the victim followed Hator to collect the money. On reaching the house Hator’s wife informed the victim that Hator was relaxing in an uncompleted building and the victim followed up to the place.

Hator pushed the victim on to a mat and covered her mouth with his hand and had sex with her before giving the GH¢2 to her and warned her not to disclose her ordeal to anyone or else he would cut off her head.

Immediately the victim got home, her mother noticed a change in the way she walked. After examining her daughter she noticed some whitish liquid in her vagina.

Chief Inspector Ahor said the complainant then dragged the victim to the scene of the act and saw the accused person fast asleep. With the help of some witnesses, Hator was arrested and handed over to the Police at Pokuase, who transferred the matter to DOOVSU, Tesano in Accra.**
