Two remanded for stealing ECG transformer

A Suhum District Magistrate Court, presided over by Naomi Akyiano has remanded two accused persons for two weeks for allegedly stealing a 100kva transformer belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The accused persons, Enoch Tetteh, a 23-year-old mechanic apprentice and Eric Brusah, a scraps dealer, were charged on three counts of causing unlawful damage, stealing, and influencing a public officer.

Their pleas were not taken and they are to reappear before the court on 15th February 2018.

According to the Suhum District Police Commander, Superintendent Joseph Owusu, the accused were found with a disassembled transformer in a KIA Pride taxi with registration number GR 2672-11 at Okroase near Suhum.

He said the accused tried to bribe the police patrol team during the confrontation with huge amount of money but the team rejected the money and eventually arrested them.
