The Tarkwa District Magistrate Court has remanded two men into prison custody over an acid attack that occurred at Aboso in the Tarkwa Municipality in August 2024.

According to the Western Central Regional Police Command, investigations revealed that the first accused confronted the victim at Aboso Mandelinde Junction, pushing him from behind and sparking a quarrel.

He later returned with the second accused, identified as 19-year-old Victor Vorgah, who was allegedly carrying a polythene bag containing a bottle of a substance suspected to be acid.

The substance was reportedly poured on the victim’s face, causing severe injuries.

A release dated August 21, 2025, and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Central Region, said the two suspects were arrested on August 9 from separate hideouts and arraigned before court on August 14.

“Both suspects were picked up from separate hideouts on August 9 and arraigned before the court on August 14”, the statement said.

They have since been charged with Abetment of Crime under Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) and Causing Unlawful Harm under Section 69 of the same Act.

The court, presided over by His Honour Charles Owusu, ordered that they be remanded into prison custody pending their next appearance.

Meanwhile, the police are pursuing a third suspect, known only as ‘Black’, who is currently on the run.

The public has been urged to provide credible information on his whereabouts to the Aboso Police or the nearest police station.

“We are urging the public to provide credible information on his whereabouts by contacting the Aboso Police or the nearest police station”, the statement said.
