Huni-Valley (W/R), Sept 11, GNA- The people of Huni-Valley in the Wassa West District have sent an SOS message to the district health directorate following the outbreak of Typhoid cases in the area. Mr Isaac Doomson, the Assemblymember for the area, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that five victims of the disease in critical conditions have been admitted to the Tarkwa Government Hospital.
He attributed the outbreak of the disease to poor sanitation and lack of potable water for the people who depend on water from the Hunihuni and Abeiabikwagima rivers.
The people depend on water from the rivers following the breakdown of all the three hand-dug wells in the town.
Some people defecate at the banks of these rivers while others use the banks as refuse dumps, Mr Doomson said and appealed to the Ghana Water Company (GWC) and the Wassa West District Assembly to address the problem.
