The University of Cape Coast branch of the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Associations of Ghana (FUSSAG) has declared an indefinite effective Monday February 3, 2014.

UCC FUSSAG says it will not back down on its action until its members are paid four out of their eight months’ salary arrears following an increment last year.

The Government directed the various public Universities to use their internally generated funds to pay the arrears but the national General Secretary of FUSSAG Jacob Eshun told Strict Proof on Radio XYZ on Monday that only the University of Education, Winneba, complied with the directive.

According to Mr Eshun, the other branches of FUSSAG are likely to follow suit with similar strikes.

FUSSAG went on a strike in August last year to protest against the delay in paying their category two allowances following their migration onto the single spine salary structure.

The association also demanded compensation for excessive exposure of staff to health and occupational hazards, market premium for senior staff, restoration of electricity rebate and restoration of special allowance.
