Six officers of the University of Education in Winneba, including the suspended Vice Chancellor have been indicted after they were found “culpable” for alleged breaches and misconduct in the performance of the their functions.
The six were indicted and pronounced culpable by a fact-finding committee, which was commissioned by the university’s governing council to investigate the alleged breaches.
The Council has consequently resolved to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the six to allow them the opportunity to answer the charges, a statement signed and issued by the Council Chairman Prof. Emmanuel N Abekah said.
They are Prof. Mawutor Avoke; Dr Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie, Finance Officer; Ms Sena Dake Internal Auditor; Ms Mary Dzimey, Acting Head of Procurement and Daniel Tetteh, Ag. Deputy Director of Works and Physical Development, and Finance Officer Frank Owusu Boateng.
“The Committee, by the report, indicted six officers and found them cuplanle of some breachers and or misconduct in the performance of their functions relative to the laws and regulations in the fovernance of the University” the statement said.
It said the Council has accepted the said report of the Committee, which it received on February 22.
The University has for the past eight months been hit by impasse between the Council and some management members, something that has been a subject matter of a court case.
But the Council said notwithstanding the issues, the administration of the University has been running smoothly and commended the current administrators.
It has meanwhile appointed Rev. Fr, Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni as the acting Vice chancellor “forthwith not in his capacity as the Pro Vice chancellor but in his own right and capacity as the senior most and experienced professor in the University until the/a substantive vice chancellor is reinstated or appointed by the Council”
