A leading member of the Economic Fighters League, a mass movement of young people, Ernesto Yeboah, has described as useless the research work and findings by the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Legon.

Ernesto Yeboah believes the exercise was not democratic and respondents were forced to make a choice for those who were selected by the researchers.

He is also opining that the research was conducted for a powerful few and was a serious blander.

Ernesto Yeboah in a post on his social media page said: “In my view, it’s a very useless exercise aimed at entrenching the status quo. It adds nothing new, other than a false sense of acceptance of the system. The Class dimension reveals a lot, it is an exercise conducted to serve the interest of the few and powerful.”

He also slammed the university for the methodology used and said: “The approach used itself tells it all; it is not democratic. Let’s go to the variables used by the University, respondents are forced to choose Mahama, Nana Addo or Nduom. There is no column for none of the above.”

The exercise he lamented did not provide genuine opportunity for people to genuinely choose other alternatives.

“So those who are genuinely in search of a true and credible alternative or simply do not like any of the three candidates presented are completely marginalized in the exercise. This is a serious blander for a University to make. A research like this can therefore not stand as reflective of the power balance of our society nor does it qualify as representative of the views of the people. My view.”
