The University of Ghana (UG) has postponed the reopening date for the 2026/2027 academic year, which was originally scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026.
The decision was announced in a notice to students dated October 10, 2026, and signed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Gordon A. Awandare.
According to the notice, a new date for the reopening of the university will be announced in due course.
“Management sincerely regrets any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciates the patience and understanding of students as arrangements are made for the reopening,” the statement said.
In the meantime, the university has urged students to complete their academic registration online using the procedure outlined in an earlier communication.
Management said completing the registration process would secure students’ places for classes and ensure their eligibility to participate in the random bed allocation exercise, which will be conducted soon.
The university did not provide a reason for the postponement or indicate when students should expect the revised reopening date.
