Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Education, in charge of Tertiary Education has commended the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) for leading in the trial of the Ebola vaccine in the country.

He said the bold initiative has placed UHAS in the league of leading universities in the world.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa said this when he visited UHAS in Ho to ascertain the readiness of facilities at the permanent site for commissioning.

He said the University had attracted international recognition in just three years of its establishment and praised the leadership and staff for their sacrifices.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa also expressed excitement at the completion of work on the permanent site of the University saying “I am very excited about this. This is unique. Wherever you see this design and colour, you know its UHAS”.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa commended contractors for completing work on the project in time and said President John Dramani Mahama would commission it hopefully before the next academic year.

The permanent campus has a laboratory complex, libraries, ICT centre, auditorium, classroom blocks, cafeteria and an administration block.

It will house the school of Allied Health Sciences and Basic Biomedicals.

The Schools of Medicine and Nursing and Midwifery would remain at the old site in the Volta Regional Hospital.
