The inability of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) to settle bills owed Vodafone Ghana has resulted in the disconnection of internet services to its Ho campus.
The situation, which has persisted for the past five weeks, is having a severe toll on academic work on campus.
Some students, who spoke to Starr News on condition of anonymity, said the situation was frustrating. They are unable to access lecture notes, which are stored in an online server.
"The internet on campus has been off since we came back in March… and what I understand was that Vodafone came to disconnect the service, because the school is owing" a student complained.
Another frustrated student lamented that: "For now, we have no choice than to use modems to access our lecture notes, and this comes at a cost to us."
Starr News has also learnt that UHAS is facing some financial difficulties due to a delay in release of government subventions.
The situation has caused the University to default in settling bills to other service providers including state power distributor Electricity Company of Ghana.
The University of Health and Allied Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 828 of December 2011) as a public university, with campuses in Ho and Hohoe.
UHAS, which admitted its first batch of students in September 2012, is dedicated to teaching, research and service in the Health Sciences with Community health service and problem solving techniques forming a core part of the curriculum.
