A Ghanaian Educationist based in the United Kingdom, Osei Asibey Kwateng has expressed confidence in the Local Judicial System declaring: ?I have now seen that there is a workable Judicial System in this country.?

Speaking to The Chronicle following his recent court victory jointly against the state owned Daily Graphic and the British Council Ghana, Kwateng said the judgement acknowledges the fact that Ghana is once again returning to the rule of law.

Kwarteng again remarked, ?We who are coming back from overseas as investors will not be afraid any more because we now know that the law of the land will take its course under the present government policy of transparency in the judiciary.?

Kwateng filed a libel suit jointly and severally against the Daily Graphic and the British Council for allegedly publishing defamatory articles - ?This school is fake,? referring to City of London Business College in the United Kingdom, on 27 August and 10 September 2001 respectively.

A lot of people from U.S.A and U.K. who attended the Home Coming Summit Conference in Accra in 2001 would definitely be happy when they hear about the outcome of this case, he said.

Kwateng said that at the Conference Hall a certain reporter from the Daily Graphic approached him and demanded an interview. ?I couldn?t have any chance for a possible interview with the reporter, as I was too busy at the Conference Hall at that particular time,? he said.

According to Kwateng, pursuing this court case has been costly and time consuming, yet the end result has been worthwhile, as it has brought out the truth, fairness and surely justice has been done in this instance.

According to Kwateng, he is now in the position to encourage other investors to come home and invest in the country, as the fear that there was no confidence in the judicial system is a thing of the past.

He further declared that the article published in the Daily Graphic dated 27th August and 10th September 2001 were unfounded and undermining; they were mere lies in order to discredit his school in London.

Kwateng reiterated that the media has a very critical role to play in the nation?s democracy as the fourth estate of the realm, therefore it must ensure the publication of only the correct information always.

?Now that I have won the case, I think my school?s name is cleared all over the world,? he said.

Kwateng has recently acquired plots of land in Accra to build a school block for students who are interested in seeking admission at his school in the U.K but cannot afford to travel abroad.
