UNA-GH calls on US Ambassador to Ghana

A delegation from the United Nations Association-Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the US Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Virginia Palmer at her office in Accra.

The visit was to introduce the Association and its leadership to the US Ambassador as well as to seek future collaboration with the US Embassy.

The Chairperson of the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the United Nations Association- Ghana, Dr. Akosuah Sumney said the Association has outlined a number of programs and projects to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and appealed for collaboration and assistance from the Embassy.

She mentioned Women Empowerment, Human rights protection, Peace and Security, Climate Action, Quality Education, and Skills training among others as areas the Association would like to work on with the US Embassy.

H.E Virginia Palmer acknowledged the valuable contributions of United Nations Associations (UNAs) in global peace, human rights, and social and economic development in UN member countries.

She assured the delegation that her outfit is ready to partner with UNA-GH to undertake projects and programs in the areas of education, exchange programs, and human rights among other areas of interest of the US government.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations Association-Ghana (UNA-GH), Nene Amanor Aklebeto I, who spoke on behalf of the National President Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, lauded the support of the US Embassy to Ghana, adding that the Association is committed to advancing the course of peace, human rights and development in Ghana.

The Director of Administration of UNA-GH, Mr. Lord Asante Fordjour said the Association has established Secretariats in all the 16 regions of Ghana and with about 3000 members nationwide.
