UNDP donates IT equipment to CHRAJ

Accra, Nov. 6 GNA - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday presented Information Technology (IT) equipment worth 2,500 US dollars to the Commission of Human Rights and Administration Justice (CHRAJ) to enhance its capacity.

The equipment, which included eleven desktop computers, eleven printers and eleven UPS, are part of UNDP's governance programme to strengthen the quality of services provided by the Commission to address human rights issues.

Mr Daouda Toure, UN Regional Coordinator and Resident Representative, said UNDP intended to expand its assistance to CHRAJ after assessing its work.

He said the donation was part of UNDP's plan to support civil society organizations.

Mr Toure said UNDP was pleased to support the Commission and expressed the hoped that the equipment would further facilitate access to information; improve research, reports on human rights issues and better communication in the organization.

Mr Richard Quayson, Deputy Commissioner in charge of anti-corruption and public education of CHRAJ, thanked UNDP saying it had been very supportive of CHRAJ.

Mr Quayson said the equipment would be distributed to the district offices of CHRAJ to ensure improved management of human rights cases. 07 Nov. 06
