The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has endorsed the initiative of the Youth In Sustainable Sanitation (YISS).

The team from YISS led by the Project Manager Ricky Allotey paid a courtesy call on the UNDP Ghana Assistant Country Director Louis kuukpen to present the Inititative’s Documents, programme line up and activities.

These include, the Borla Boys TV Series, High School Tour, and Sanitation Excellence Awards.

YISS is a non-profit organization with the aim of sensitizing the youth on sanitation and public health. The focus of the initiative is on the youth and young adults. This is intended to change the mindset of the younger generation through media and film to adapt the best practices in sanitation. It is believed that as the youth adapts standard salubrious practices, they would directly change our country’s future to become accustomed to more eco-friendly practices.

His remarks, the Project Manager of YISS said, “We are proud to announce our partnership with United Nations Development programme (UNDP). There is an imperative today to foster sustainable development. A vision for what this encapsulates, is laid out in the new sustainable development agenda that aims to end poverty, promote prosperity and people's well-being while protecting the environment by 2030.”

“We share in this agenda and through our sensitization projects like BORLA BOIS tv series, sanitation excellence awards and other projects, we will achieve our goals by 2030.” He continued that, waste and sanitation management can become a profitable business if Corporate Ghana can take a cue in investing massively in this area. More jobs will be created and lives of the ordinary Ghanaian will be improved.

The Assistant Country Director of UNDP for Programmes, Louis kuukpen on his part called on public to change their attitude towards sanitational discource and initiatives and entreat all to come on board to make the project a success. He believes this would contribute greatly to the country’s development.

The Borla TV Series, High School Tour and Sanitation Excellence Awards Campaign is also to whip up public consciousness and to rally support for the President’s sanitation agenda of ensuring that Ghana becomes one of the cleanest countries in the world.
