On Thursday 11 May 1995, there was a demonstration in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, which claimed the lives of some of the demonstrators.
All the reports we filled on the incident last week were garnered from foreign sources monitoring news in Ghana.
In this and the next issue, we bring you "UNEDITED" accounts of the incident as reported by the Ghanaian press - state and private.
We reproduce the accounts of the incident given by the two state controlled dailies - the People's Daily Graphic & the Times on Friday 12 May 1995.
But first we report a slant on the issue given by the Ghanaian Voice - an independent weekly paper plus a copy of the press release issued by the demonstrators prior to the march.
