National Women’s Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Anita De Souso, is no stranger to controversy.

But her latest utterances are sure to incur the wrath of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The NDC National Executive member claims the NPP has an avowed penchant to make every government not headed by the UP tradition ungovernable through suspicious fire outbreaks at national edifices, the infamous 1983 famine, coup d’états and needless electoral disputes.

She claims the NPP, with its UP antecedents, during the era of the country’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in connivance with some disgruntled CPP elements, succeeded in making Nkrumah’s administration ungovernable culminating in their staging a coup d’état to topple his government.

Speaking on Okay FM’s “Ghana Decides” programme, the outspoken NDC National Women’s Organizer indicted elements of the UP tradition of being responsible for the death of pregnant women and the disappearance of many school children during the era of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah; and turning around to rather accuse him (Nkrumah) of using their blood for rituals.

She strongly held the view that though there is a change of name from UP to NPP, to her, their nature and notoriety cannot alter just as a leopard cannot change its skin.

“…the NPP were responsible for the serial killings of women during the administration of former President Rawlings…do you recall seeing any family member coming out during that period to identify any of the dead?...the UP/NPP were also responsible for the 1983 famine which hit the nation…it was just to make living unbearable, and former President Rawlings’ administration unpopular…farms begun to burn till the whole country went into severe famine, leaving only the poor people in Ghana to deal with the situation.

“…the UP/NPP cannot absolve itself from blame regarding the setting of fire to state properties…can’t you see that throughout the administrations of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, ex-President Rawlings, the late President Mills and even currently, state edifices and markets are being razed down by fires?...I smell an elephant in all these incidents…they (NPP) cannot tell me they have no hand in any of these,” Anita said.

To her, it not surprising that the NPP is even in court challenging the 2012 elections because their mindset is to make the country ungovernable.
