University of Ghana (UG) and Takoradi Technical University (TTU) have progressed to the semifinals of the 2019 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Defending champions and UPAC quarterfinal host UG topped Group A thanks to three wins in as many games in the first phase of the knockout stage.
UG beat Koforidua Technical University 60-32 in the third round of games in the group after recording a 44-42 win over TTU and Catholic University College.
The three-time UPAC winners will face the second placed team in Group B in the semifinals on Saturday, April 13 at the same venue.
UG is aiming to clinch Ghana’s most prestigious tertiary basketball title for the fourth time and in consecutive fashion.
TTU blew a 20-5 first quarter lead to lose to UG in the opening game but recovered to all two remaining games to qualify in second place.
TTU beat Catholic University 30-19 to secure its qualification.
