As part of their efforts to give back to society through Corporate Social Responsibility, students pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Corporate Communications at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) donated items to an orphanage in Accra on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

The students, led by Dr. Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah, a senior lecturer and Head of the Department for Communication Studies at UPSA, presented assorted items including foodstuff, water, drinks, toiletries, books, stationery, clothing, and an undisclosed sum of money.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Amankwah emphasized the importance of giving back to society and bringing joy to those in need.

She said, "The individuals you see here are students of Corporate Communications at UPSA who have studied Corporate Social Responsibility. We're here because it is Mother's Day, and we want to share with you."

"Even as we share these items with you, we want you to know that we care deeply for you. That is why we decided not to limit our actions to the classroom but to step out and make a difference... We hope that what we're doing for you today, you remember years back and also do it for other people," Dr. Amankwah added.

Reacting to the kind gesture, the Founder of Hopeway Ministries, Pastor Reindorf Ashley, noted that the orphanage oversees about 50 children in need, ranging from kindergarten to tertiary students.

He explained that this includes those housed on-site and those under foster care.

"We run two types of home programmes: one for boys who live here, making it a boys' home, and another where we foster girls. These are community girls whom we've identified as being in need," Pastor Ashley said.

Pastor Ashley also appealed to the public to support the children at Hopeway Ministries by donating computers and other materials that aid students' learning.

He also called for assistance with their utility bills, as there are no subsidies for orphanages.

"Our most pressing needs are food and utilities. Unfortunately, orphanages receive no electricity or water subsidies. We pay just like anyone else. As for education, we have a library, but sadly, it lacks computers," the founder of Hopeway Ministries highlighted.
