The Students' Representative Council of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, has congratulated the school's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego Amartey, for winning the CIMG Marketing Man of the Year award.

He was adjudged the CIMG (Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana) Man of the Year last week alongside Reverend Dr Mrs Elizabeth Wyns-Dogbo, who was named the Marketing Woman of the Year following their contributions to both the private and public marketing sector.

"We are very proud of our Vice-Chancellor who keeps lifting the image of the university higher. The entire student body congratulates Professor Abednego Amartey and we want to say thank you," said SRC PRO Nii Ayi Aryee Rahman.

Every year, nominations are collected and assessed by the Award Selection Committee (ASC) and Marketing Research Institution (MRI). Based on investigated credentials and shortlist provided by the ASC and MRI, the governing council of CIMG crowns the winners.

In this year's awards, Professor Abednego Amartey was made Man of the Year for his stupendous contribution in making UPSA one of the best universities in Sub-Sahara Africa, ranking jointly with University of Ghana and Ashesi University on the Times Higher Education Ranking 2019. UPSA is currently one of the fastest-growing universities in the country and West Africa at large with ultra-modern infrastructure making it a world-class institution.

CIMG was founded in July 1981 as the Institute of Marketing Ghana and later changed to Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) with its main vision and mission of being the voice of marketing practice in Ghana as well as leading the development of world-class marketing professionals for effective marketing practice.

In the year 1989, CIMG initiated the award scheme in line with its mission and vision to sharpen the interest of marketing professionals, create awareness for the marketing concept, its legitimate role in society, the economy of Ghana and the world at large.
