US Ambassador calls on Chieftaincy Minister

Accra, April 6, GNA - The US Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Donald Teitelbaum, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr. Alexanda Asum-Ahensah, in his office in Accra, during which they discussed a number of issues, including the promotion of the craft industry. Mr Asum-Ahensah called on the US government to help find market for the Ghanaian craft industry saying Ghanaians produced a lot of good quality craft with good quality designs but inadequate access to markets was hindering the its development.

Accra, April 6, GNA - The US Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Donald Teitelbaum, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr. Alexanda Asum-Ahensah, in his office in Accra, during which they discussed a number of issues, including the promotion of the craft industry. Mr Asum-Ahensah called on the US government to help find market for the Ghanaian craft industry saying Ghanaians produced a lot of good quality craft with good quality designs but inadequate access to markets was hindering the its development. He said the government would encourage players in the industry to add more value to their products to enable them to benefit from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) initiative. The Minister also urged the US government to help train personnel at his ministry to enable them to effectively discharge their duties. He said though the ministry was new, there were so many agencies under it which required effective manpower to handle them. Mr Donald Teitelbaum pledged his country's continuous preparedness to cooperate with Ghana for development. 6 April 09
