US NGO donates to pupils at Adaklu-Goefe

Adaklu-Goefe (V/R), Jan. 3, GNA - Change for Change, a US-based non-governmental organization, on Monday presented educational materials worth 1,000 dollars to pupils and students at Adaklu-Goefe near Ho. The items were exercise books, calculators, pencils, pens and erasers among other teaching and learning materials. Presenting the items at a mini durbar of people and chiefs of Goefe, Gblefe and Tsrefe, Ms Fafanyo Asiseh, a native of Adaklu-Goefe and founder of Change for Change, said the initiative was to give back to society what it gave her.

She said as a student in the United States of America, she found it appropriate to support pupils and students back home with some educational materials. Ms Asiseh said education was the only thing that could break all forms of barriers and challenged pupils and students in the community to strive t= o excel in academic.

She announced a scholarship package for brilliant but needy pupils and students in the area and hoped that the donation would enhance academic performance there.

Mr Kumah James Abraham, Headmaster of Goefe Local Authority Primary School, who received the items, commended Change for Change for the foresight and promised that the items would motivate pupils and students in the area to perk-up their academic performances. "Our academic performance is not the best and I can only hope that this presentation would move our kids to do better and aspire higher," he said.

Togbe Sasraku IV, Chief of Adaklu-Goefe, expressed gratitude to Change for Change for the initiative and appealed to other benevolent organization= s to help the Junior High School in the area to complete its school block, toilet and library facilities.
