Ghanaian Uber driver who threatened to deal with a female customer for cancelling her booking after she made him move to the pick-up point has been suspended by the company.
The suspension follows after the driver whose name was given as Abass sent a text message to the lady threatening to deal with her spiritually in just three days after he felt his time and fuel was wasted.
“Never think you are going to get it easy for making me drive here and wasted fuel. I’m going to deal with you spiritually. I give you 3 days and you will learn from that”, the message sent by the driver.
The American multinational online transportation network, Uber in a press statement released to Ghanaweb said they have received a report concerning the incident and have currently prevented the driver from accessing the app until investigations are completed. They also pledged their support to assist the police in investigating the matter.
Kindly see below an official statement stating their stance on the issue:
“We are deeply committed to the safety of all who use the Uber App. Upon being made aware of this, our Incident Response Team who are trained to deal with any critical safety issues were already in contact with the rider to offer our full support".
"As a general point of principle, if there is any serious allegation of wrongdoing by a driver using Uber they are immediately prevented from accessing the app until an investigation can be concluded. We stand ready to assist the police in their investigation."
