The ex-flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is not in court alone waiting to be President of Ghana, but some bigwigs of the party who served in the administration of ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, and currently unemployed, appears to be storming the Supreme Court daily, waiting to become Ministers in an Akufo-Addo government.
The continuous presence of the ex-ministers and appointees namely: ex-Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing Hackman Owusu-Agyeman; ex-Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh I. C. Quaye; ex-Education and Sports Minister, Yaw Osarfo Marfo; ex-minister for Regional Integration and NEPAD, Kofi Konadu Apraku are making people ask how they are able to feed their wives, children and other dependants.
Some of the ex-ministers and appointees have desperately even carried fake accreditation cards manufactured from Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co. Law Firm into the courtroom, giving an impression that politics is a profession for livelihood, not a voluntary social activity to serve mankind.
Ex-Second Deputy Speaker and Ex-Minister for Energy, Prof. Mike Ocquaye (Papa Ajasco), and his son Mike Ocquaye Jnr. (Baby Ajasco), also make a daily visit to the Supreme Court for the hearing session for the third week, running. Many had expected father and son, who are lawyers to open a law firm to enhance the practice of law in the country.
Also making daily appearance is ex-Press Secretary to President, John Kufuor, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong who is said to be eyeing the NPP General Secretary slot at a national Congress of the party later, this year.
Ex-Deputy minister for Manpower Development and Social Welfare, Akosua Frema Opare, ex-Mayor of Accra, Stanley Adjiri Blankson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Ursula Gifty Owusu alias Queen Of The Street, have all being making daily visit to the Court.
Others are MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, the TV camera-happy ex-Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Prof. Ken Attafuah, and a bosom friend of the second petitioner and star witness, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also waiting to become Vice-President.
Many had expected the former Minister for Port Habours and Railways, Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi to return to the classroom having been kicked from his Techiman North Constituency seat at the 2012 Parliamentary election.
Some of the jobless individuals have been seen delightfully posing for the live TV cameras, at the Supreme Court, sending signals to NPP supporters that they are assisting the petitioners.
The Herald has been informed that the security agencies are aware of the fake accreditations cards being carried to the courtroom, and might soon clampdown on the perpetrators.
It has meanwhile, been observed that the NPP’s noisy claim that President John Mahama stole the Presidential election, has taken a nose dive following revelations that Pink Sheets sent to the court had been heavily padded, and double counted to deceive the Supreme Court judges.
