Unemployed before court for stealing

Sekondi, March 26, GNA - Gideon Keelson, a 20-year old unemployed, was on Thursday arraigned before a Sekondi District Magistrate's Court for allegedly stealing 2,440,000 cedis belonging to an Accra based businessman.

The accused pleaded not guilty to stealing and was remanded in Prison custody to re-appear on April 4, this year.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Philip Obeng, said at about 8.45 p.m. on March 22 this year, the accused and an accomplice on the run attacked Mr Godfred Aidoo, the businessman near the Whin River Hotel at Apremdo near Takoradi.

He said the accused person and his colleague made away with the businessman's Nokia mobile phone and a cash of 2,440,000 cedis.

Sergeant Obeng said the businessman raised an alarm and the accused was arrested with the help of some people in the area. He said the mobile phone was retrieved from the accused while his accomplice run away with the money.

Sergeant Obeng said the accused denied the offence in his statement to the Police but was charged with the offence after investigations.
