Unemployed goes in for stealing laptop computer

The Winneba District Magistrate’s Court has sentenced an unemployed man at Winneba to 12 months imprisonment for stealing a laptop valued at GH?1, 400.

Godwin Afari, 31, pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Richard Samadji, told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah, that the complainant, Mr. Emmanuel Acquah Obed, is a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) South Campus.

The prosecution said on August 7, Afari entered the office of the complainant and took the laptop.

He said some workers of the University saw him in the act and when he was questioned, Afari started running but was arrested and handed over to the Winneba Police.
