Asamankese, May 13, GNA - An 18-year-old unemployed, who allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl has been remanded in custody by the Asamankese Circuit Court till May 16.

Ofosuhene Appenteng pleaded not guilty to three counts of abduction of a female under 18, defiling a child under 16 and issuing threat of death.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Osei Owusu, told the court that the victim was a schoolgirl, living with her mother at Asuboi, near Suhum, while the accused lived with a friend in the same town.

On March 31, this year, he said Appenteng met the girl in town and asked her to accompany him home to collect something for her friend and when they got home he dragged her into a room and forcibly had sex with her.

According to the prosecutor, after the act, he detained the girl over-night and repeatedly had sexual inter-course with her. Inspector Owusu said the following day, Appenteng invited his friend, Dorkenu to also have sex with the girl. He said the girl's mother, who was looking for her had information that the accused was keeping the daughter in his room and therefore, sought the help of one Mr Ben Attor to confront him. The Prosecutor said when Attor attempted to force the door open, Appenteng allegedly drew a cutlass and threatened to kill him if he made any attempt.

However, with the help of some people around, they managed to disarm Appenteng and forced him to open the door and Dorkenu, who was inside with the sobbing girl was able to escape arrest through the ceiling before the door was opened.
