Christopher Ahi, 19, unemployed, is in the grips of the Ho Municipal Police for allegedly stealing a mobile phone belonging a student who has just completed the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

Ahi's accomplices are now at large.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr Anthony Danso, Ho Municipal Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that Ahi together with his three accomplices attacked the victim and his friends who were returning from the Ho Sports Stadium, where they went to watch inter-schools games after their last BECE paper on Friday.

Mr Danso said the gang accosted the victim at about 1700 hours and snatched his phone and four Ghana cedis from him and took to their heels.

He said the victim raised an alarm resulting in the arrest of Ahi by some bystanders.

Mr Danso said during police interrogation Ahi admitted committing the offence and would soon be arraigned, while search for his accomplices continued.
