Unemployed on remand for stealing palm oil

Kade, Feb 26, GNA - The Kade District Magistrate's court has remanded in prison custody Yaw Ebenezer, unemployed, charged with stealing 10 gallons of palm oil with three others who are at large. Ebenezer pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy to steal, unlawful entry and stealing the palm oil.

A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of the other three persons named as Kwaku Dompe, Kwasi Addae and George Anokye. Police Inspector Francis Cobbina prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Iliasu that about five months ago Mr Gabriel Tetteh processed 15 gallons of palm oil and kept them in a room in his house for sale later. He later detected 10 of the gallons valued at GHC 280 had been stolen

Mr Tetteh investigated and found out that it was the accused and three others who stole the palm oil. He entered the accused person's room on August 14 last year when he was in bed and identified three of the gallons of the stolen palm oil hidden in a corner. When Mr Tetteh asked Ebenezer where he got the palm oil from he replied that Dompe, Addae and Anokye sold them to him for GHC 15. He was handed over to the Kade police.
