An unemployed young man who attacked a trader at gunpoint and robbed her of money and belongings at Odorkor in Accra has been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.

Stephen Aidoo trailed the first victim, hit her forehead with a locally manufactured pistol and robbed her of handbag valued at GH¢80.00 which contained an Infinix Note 2 mobile phone valued at GH¢450.00 and an amount of GH¢750.00, totaling GH¢1,280.00.

Luck eluded him as he was spotted by a taxi driver who gave him a hot chase.

Sensing danger, Stephen Aidoo, threw the bag away and scaled a fence wall into a house.

Interestingly, he went straight into the room of a lady who was fast asleep and managed to steal a mobile phone beside her.

He was spotted by the lady’s mother, who shouted for help.

The suspect was apprehended with the assistance of residents of the area.

Stephen Aidoo has been put before court on four counts of assault, robbery, stealing and unlawful entry.

He pleaded not guilty to all the four charges.

The court, presided over by a relieving judge Her Honour Afi Agbanu Kudormor, remanded him into police custody to reappear in September 6, 2018.

The prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Ahiabor, told the court that the first complainant, Diana Lamptey is a student while the second complainant, Susana Bassaw is a trader who both reside at Odorkor in Accra.

He said the locally-manufactured pistol and stolen mobile phone were found on the accused person after a search.

Inspector Samuel Ahiabor said the complainant, who was attacked by the accused, produced an endorsed medical report which confirmed the assault on her.
