Unemployed youth on Tuesday, September 4, besieged the streets of Accra to protest continued joblessness as they demand immediate intervention from government

The demonstration is part of moves by the Economic Fighters League to pressurize the Akufo-Addo led government to fulfil its promise of creating jobs to reduce the high unemployment rate in the country.

Some of the jobless youth who spoke to Starr News’ Daniel Lartey said they have really been struggling to make ends meet since they completed Tertiary Education.

“I have been home since 2014 and I have done everything possible to get a job because I have not been successful,” one of the jobless youth said.

Another jobless graduate said “Okudzeto Ablakwa said they had created over 10 million jobs but where are the jobs…we want the government to come to our aid because we are suffering.”

The unemployed youth are appealing to government to embark on a massive job creation exercise by creating the enabling business environment to give business opportunities to the many unemployed youth.
