Accra, April 01, GNA - Authorities of the University of Ghana. Legon on Friday presented certificates and cash prizes to graduates and scholarships to continuing students who excelled academically during the 2004/2005 academic year.
Thirty-five graduates made up of 15 women and 20 men received 43 different awards sponsored by individuals, alumni and corporate bodies. Ten continuing students were given the Sadhu T.L. Vaswani and the Indian Association Scholarships.
They were, Francis Tanam Djankpa, Evans Yayra Kwaku Ashigbi, Desmond Fometu Doe, Emmanuel Asare Domfeh, Johane Fantenie, Lukest Mensah Kakey, Prosper Senyo Koto, Appiah Yaw Lartey, Rexford Okae Osafo and Joseph Tindana.
Two other continuing students who received James Gordon Memorial Scholarships were, Princess Adjei-Frimpong and Regina Dery. Professor Clifford N.B. Tagoe, Acting Vice-Chancellor pledged the commitment of the authorities to instil discipline in the graduates and students to become useful citizens.
He commended the graduates for their achievements and asked them to contribute to the University's Students Financial Aid Office established to help needy but brilliant students. Prof. Tagoe expressed appreciation to the sponsors for their support to develop human resources and capabilities to meet national development goals.
Mr. Alfred T. Konu, Registrar of the University, congratulated the award winners for their excellent performance.
