Accra, March 24, GNA - Authorities of the University of Ghana (UG) on Wednesday assured the university community, alumni and the public that appropriate measures would be taken to deal with culprits involved in the disruptive behaviour during the March 13 Congregation on campus.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr J. M. Budu, the Register, said "authorities would deal decisively with the culprits and others whose actions tend to subvert good order and discipline, thereby tarnishing the good name of the country's premier university".
The statement said the scheduled congregation delayed for about 20 minutes when some students, mostly of Commonwealth Hall, embarked on an unruly procession and massed up in front of the Central Cafeteria, where the official procession by the University Council and senior members was to begin.
It said the Executive Committee of the University had held an emergency meeting to discuss the incident and its implications on discipline in the University. 24 March 10
