The Minority Leader of Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has advised minister designate for Trade and Industry, Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah to learn to be “truthful” and "candid" as he heads to the ministry.

According to him, Spio Gabrah was evasive and less candid with many of his answers when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of the house for vetting.

“Certainly one must exhume confidence, but over amplifications of one’s successes or perceived success translates into egocentrism and even arrogance” the Suame MP said of the trades minister designate during a parliamentary session to approve his nomination.

He added: “The nominee lied to the house severally about his educational background. A person who is going to be entrusted with a ministry as huge as the trades ministry must learn to be candid and truthful. He needs to be truthful in little matters”.

He urged Spio Gabrah to learn to respect and accommodate dissenting views as he heads back to government.

Spio Gabrah was formally approved by the law making house on Friday, October 2.

He fell out with the governing party after he chastised President John Mills (late) for, in his view, fielding a ‘Team B’ group in government.

President John Mahama nonetheless appointed him a couple of months ago.
