The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has charged the Ghana Police Service to improve on the quality of security delivery in the country.

According to him, an improvement in maintaining public safety and security by enforcing the law will not only restore the faith of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in police personnel but also make him proud.

“I believe it’s for us the Police to also up our game to make sure that we make the president proud. I believe I have your approval to promise the President that.” He indicated.

Speaking at the annual end of year get together of the West Africa Security Service Association (WASSA) of the Ghana Police Service on Friday, March 22, the Interior Minister said the Police had a record of accomplishments but recent statistics showed that there is a downward slope in the success of the police.

He also urged the force to support the president by working hand in hand to ensure the safety, peace, and sanity of Ghanaians

Amberose Dery said, “While statistics show that we chalked some successes, but the successes are beginning to go the other way. We have to work hard to deal with it. Remembering always that the Mr President’s view is that people must feel safe. I am proud to work for a president who do not allow things to fester, look the other way when there is illegality”.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu said the Police Service will soon deploy regional commanders to the newly created six regions.

According to him, the new regional commanders have been selected and will soon be posted to the new regions to ensure the regions are on solid security platform.

The IGP expressed confidence stating that “The new regional commanders have been selected after due diligence. The Police Administration have no doubt that they will meet our expectations”.
