Upper West chiefs express worry about indecent dressing

Wa June 10, GNA - The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs has expressed concern about indecent dressing among the youth and appealed to district assemblies to act.

The House, at its general meeting on Thursday, appealed to District Assemblies in the Upper West Region to pass by-laws to punish those who dress with their trousers at the base of their buttocks and expose their pants.

The House said the practice was immoral and needed urgent attention. Naa Sohewinye David Gore II, the President of the House, said the House was also unhappy about the emergence of homosexuals and appealed to leaders of organizations to stand firm and condemn the practice.

Naa Sohewinye David Gore, the paramount chief of Dorimon Traditional Area, expressed concern about motor accidents that occur daily in the Wa Municipality and said they were due to human error.

"Many young ones have lost their lives and some maimed in accident that could have been avoided, he said.

The House urged the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress to call foot soldiers to order to allow Ministers and District Chiefs Executives to have peace of mind to carry out their duties.

"The constant harassment of Ministers and DCES by foot soldiers because they are unable to meet their personal demands is a dangerous signal to Ghana's young democracy," Naa Sohewinye David Gore said.

"Let all respect the constitution, whether political party or an individual, and allow due process to address all grievances," he said.
