A member of the Communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Adjei, has urged the ruling NPP government and the Ministry of Health to do all it can to evacuate Ghanaian students in Wuhan, China.

Ghanaian students in China have called on government to evacuate them following the outbreak of coronavirus.

North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in a post on his Facebook page, backed calls for the students to be evacuated.

According to him, “may it never be said of us that we have become the country renowned for waging expensive campaigns to attract largely rich and famous Africans in the diaspora through the ‘Year of Return’ and ‘Beyond the Return’ initiatives and yet cannot spend a fraction of that to evacuate our stranded compatriots in China.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (MoH) says Ghanaians living and studying in China are safe from the deadly Coronavirus and would be evacuated when it becomes necessary.

Speaking to this on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Eric Adei asked the government and the MoH to stop the excuses and bring the students home.

"Use our taxpayer's money to bring them home, what are we waiting for. I believe if the government is willing, they will be able to do the preparations here in Ghana and bring them home. They are Ghanaians so I will urge President Akufo-Addo and the Ministry of Health to use our money to bring them home. They can even use the money from the excavators to bring them home," he intimated.
