The Chief Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Transport, Mr Paul Asare Ansah, has said that the increased number of children beggars on the streets of Accra is the cause of failed leadership.

Mr Ansah equally blamed reckless parents who fail to cater for their children for the problem.

Several parts of Accra are littered with child beggars with some of them sleeping on pavements and sidewalks at night.

According to the former Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) boss, these children who are supposed to be the future of the African continent are exposed to many illegal activities.

Speaking on Class 91.3FM’s Kidz Zone on Saturday, 27 April 2019 with Bishop Abraham Aidoo on the topic: "Preparing the Children for Leadership," Mr Asare Ansah said he is particularly disappointed with parents who use their children for alms-begging on the streets.

He said it is “heartbreaking”. “My heart bleeds at such sights”, he said.

“Why should children be used as slave beggars?”

Mr Asare Ansah also urged African leaders to show patriotism and serve with a sense of conviction to spur development of the human capital of their country so as to boost growth on the continent.
