V/R is not for NDC - Nduom

PRESS RELEASE THE VOLTA REGION IS NOT FOR THE NDC – SAYS DR. NDUOM Last week, the CPP Presidential Candidate took his ‘Edwumawura’ message to the Volta Region. The tour took him to the Keta, Anlo, Ketu North and Ave Avenor constituencies. He visited Tregui, Anloga, Keta, Abor, Dzelokope, Akatsi and Dzodze. At the same time, his wife, Mrs. Yvonne Nduom and the General Secretary of the CPP Mr. Ivor Greenstreet were also in other areas of the Volta Region. The Running Mate, Dr. Abu Sakara will be in the region next week. Dr. Nduom is determined to lead the CPP to break the hold the NDC has had on the Volta Region since the 1992 elections. After this tour, the CPP believes that it has a good chance to win 6 parliamentary seats in the region if the current trend of increasing support base through the registration of new members continues.

What is of particular interest to the Campaign Team is the keen interest shown in the revival of the CPP by opinion leaders in the region. Most of the traditional authorities visited commended Dr. Nduom for working hard to lead the revival of the Party. Invariably, they recalled their days in the Young Pioneer Movement, Workers Brigade, State Construction Corporation and other organizations started by the CPP administration in the 1960s. Many older people asked Dr. Nduom to promise not to align the CPP with any other political party. In response, Dr. Nduom assured them that the CPP is back in full strength to fight its own battles and engage in a strong but positive campaign to win the elections. He told them that the last congress of the Party resolved to build a competitive, independent political party capable of winning elections which is precisely what he is leading the campaign to do. He added that the CPP is capable of winning the 2008 elections and asked for their support and encouragement. The Campaign Team was amazed at the level of underdevelopment in the Volta Region. Many communities do not have good drinking water, face very bad roads, do not have good schools and lack employment opportunities. Dr. Nduom asked the people to trust their votes to the CPP since it is the party they can trust to spread development opportunities evenly to all corners of the country.

Dr. Nduom inaugurated polling station executives in every constituency he visited. He congratulated the members for choosing to join the CPP particularly the young men and women. He asked them to work hard to recruit many more people to join the Party and vote for victory for the CPP in December. It is clear from this latest tour that the Volta Region is not permanently for the NDC. It can be won over by the CPP. Dr. Nduom and other leading members of the CPP will make frequent visits over the next four weeks to stake the Party’s claim to the region’s votes. Without a doubt the CPP is also renewing its national character.
