Accra, April 1, GNA - Captain George Mfodwo (Rtd), Ho District Chief Executive (DCE), said on Saturday that the District Assembly is aware of tourism potentials in the area and will do all it can to develop it.

He was speaking at the launch of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Vane Youth Association (VAYA) in Accra. The climax of the anniversary will take place at Vane Avatime in the Volta region on October seven.

The DCE said the assembly had spent one billion cedis to improve educational infrastructure in the District and congratulated the association for the school project at Vane.

"I am showing my gratitude because the project should have been done by the assembly." He said the district does not have problem with water due to the support they received from DANIDA.

Capt. Mfodwo appealed to investors to come to Ho and invest in agriculture because there is enough water for irrigation purposes. He said four contractors are repairing roads in Ho to bring the town to the status of a regional capital.

Lieutenant Colonel G. Y. Mahunu, President of VAYA, said the association is a development-oriented association whose objective is to assist in development to help raise the standard of living of the people of Vane Avatime.

The association has 1,500 registered members with branches all over Ghana. As part of the anniversary, the association will complete the primary school block, provide streetlights for the town and construct a Community Centre at a cost of 500 million cedis.

Lt. Col Mahunu appealed to members to pay their dues to help execute the projects.
