VEEP lauds General Electric for upgrading nine hospitals

Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, made this known at the Osu Castle, on Wednesday, when he led a delegation of the Company including Mr Bob Corcoran, Vice President for Corporate Citizenship in the US, to meet with Vice President Alhaji Aliu

Mahama. He said the Korle-Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals; Kintampo Schools for the training of paramedics had been rehabilitated. Prof. Akosa said health facilities at Bole; Axim; Apam, Mampong and Kete Krachi had been listed to benefit from the upgrading exercise, which comprised the provision of Information Communication Technology equipment, water filters and electricity.

He said the water filtering facility would help to remove minerals in water in parts of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr Corcoran said GE was proud to have selected Ghana for the project, saying it was a useful partnership.

Alhaji Mahama expressed joy for the project, which started two years ago as a mere interaction between officials of the Company and him at the Castle.

Hearty looking Alhaji Mahama said the project was dear to the heart of the ruling New Patriotic Party, due to the immense health benefits it had brought to the citizenry.
