Ghana's Prisons may have been established to house outlaws in the country and aimed at reforming them into useful people in society, but much improvement is yet to be seen about the terrible living conditions of prisoners in the country.

From shelter to food, little is said to have been done to ensure better treatment of inmates. On the 24th of October, 2014, Christopher Amponsah, popularly called "Senior Tough" was finally liberated from prison after spending seven years there.

Live on U TV's morning show, Adekye Nsroma, Chris narrated the bizarre treatment the inmates have been facing. According to him, inmates do not enjoy the luxury of three square mealS a day.

In the morning, over 500 prisoners queue with their cups and paint rubbers to scoop some porridge which they take to survive throughout the day until another opportunity comes up.

He further accused the prison matrons of using their feet to mix the dough for the prisoners.

He called on State authorities to address the issues in Ghana's prisons because inmates are majorly treated as slaves.

"I refuse to be a slave in my life. Call me a Prisoner than to make me a slave in my life," he exclaimed.
