Africa’s international and multiple awards winning music group, VIP, will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in Chicago, Illinois, this month.
The group will be honored by African Community Media Network at the 2nd annual Afro-Entertainment Award on October 27, in its esteemed celebration of cultural heritage and artistic legacy.
African Community Media Network made the announcement on October 1 and said VIP was the first African group to receive the Afro-Entertainment Award Lifetime Achievement Award. Officially launched in 2011, the Afro Entertainment Award honors the contribution of multi-genre artists and entrepreneurs in the Afro-Entertainment industry with focus to educate and inspire.
The philanthropic goal of the award is to enhance the lives of individuals in need by supporting both local and international charities through fundraising and community advocacy. Over the past 10 years, VIP has sold over 5million records, making the group one of the best selling recording artistes in Africa.
Made up of Zeal ( Abdul Hamid Ibrahim), Promzy (Emmanuel Promzy Ababio) and Prodigal (Joseph Nana Ofori), the charismatic trio have revolutionized the African music industry by creating award winning compositions that blend High Life, Hip Hop and traditional African music.
