The Volta River Authority (VRA) has denied reports that the emergency load management currently in force across the country will end after this month.

“I am very careful to confirm to you that load shedding will end,” stated Samuel Kwesi Fletcher, the Head of Corporate Communications of VRA.

He was speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Monday, September 8 after media reports suggested that the exercise will end after September, all things being equal.

Mr Fletcher pointed out that what was reported about the situation on load shedding is not a true reflection of what the VRA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Isaac Kirk Koffi, said.

“What he said is that at the end of the month the situation will stabilize,” Mr Fletcher stressed.

He confirmed that with the coming on board of the Aboadze Thermal Plant and TICO as well as the rising water levels of the Akosombo Dam, the situation will normalize at the end of the month.

Mr Fletcher, however, raised concerns that without an adequate reserve margin, it will be quite difficult to be definite over the end of load shedding exercise in the country.
