Vandals' Meeting with Veep Comes off

The much anticipated meeting between Vandals and the Vice President H.E. John Dramani Mahama which ghananewslink.com broke yesternight has come off at the Castle today.

The Vandals were led by their JCR President and numbered about ten. The NUGS President, Mr. Wonder Madillo and the JCR President of Sarbah Hall were also in attendance to show their solidarity.

The JCR President of Commonwealth Hall appealed for the intervention of the Vice President and the Government and said that the fate of a planned demonstration for tomorrow can only be decided by a JCR Meeting.

The Vice President who indicated that he was sad to receive them since they brought bad news, stressed that he was in a difficult position as a Vandal and a Vice President who has sworn an oath to abide by the laws and rules of the country. He said it was necessary for restraint on the part of all affected and further condemned the attempt by some students to disrupt exams earlier today.

Vice President Mahama recounted the ethoes of vandalism and said he owed a lot of what he has turned out to be to vandalism.

The Vice President appealed that the intended demonstration should be suspended for now and that he will ask the Deputy Minister for Information, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who was present at the meeting to collect their resolutions after their JCR Meeting tommorrow so that Government and the Alumni can immediately start talks with the university authorities to rescind their decision.

In a whole, it was a very cordial meeting with the Vandals singing melodiously to usher in the Vice President before the meeting started.
