Vanderpuije challenges Club officials to adopt modern trends

Accra, June 19, GNA - Nii Lante Vaderpuije, Aide to President John Evans Atta Mills has challenged football administrators in the country to adopt modern trends in the development of the game.

He said the current poor state of football in the country is largely due to the poor or little attention devoted to modern techniques related to football development.

Nii Vanderpuije told the GNA Sports that Ghana football is seriously lacking behind and a lot needs to be done to match-up with the accepted standards.

"Our football is lacking behind and we have more to do to catch-up with the growing world.

"We have to adopt professional means to be able to get to the top in terms of management, technical and tactical." The Presidential Aide said three factors made up of Management, Development and Promotion are key areas which should be given attention to achieve the expected results.

"Our football administrators don't pay any form of attention to these factors and it is really affecting our game." Vanderpuije, a former player of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC said the lack of developmental plans by administrators has led to their inability to replenish the ageing generation with equally better young ones.

He said these have largely contributed to the low quality of the Premier League, which has attracted one of the worst patronages in recent times because of low standard of play.

"I have watched some matches this season, and all but the Hearts-Eleven Wise Week 18 clash will pass for an ordinary colts game. "The standard has dropped very low and we have a lot to do to maintain the standards," he concluded.
