Veep Bawumia details how 'Chief Nurse' Samira cared for him during illness

Ghana's Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed his deepest gratitude to his wife, Samira Bawumia, for her utmost care for him during his short illness.

According to the Former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Samira assumed the role of “chief nurse” albeit he had professional nurses by him.

“She seized all my phones and made sure I was resting,” Dr Bawumia told congregants of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Christ Temple at Abossey Okai, on Sunday, 11 February 2018 when he joined them to thank God for healing him.

Dr Bawumia who revealed that God healed him from the strange illness that afflicted him recently urged Ghanaians to pray for political leaders across the country.

He said: “Pray for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, pray for the First Lady pray, for our Chief of Staff and the Ministers. They all stood by me and prayed for me just like you also prayed for me. I also want to give thanks to my lovely wife Samira, even though there were nurses she was the chief nurse and she seized all my phones and made sure I was resting and made sure I wasn’t doing anything but resting.”

Dr Bawumia said he was deeply touched by the unity exhibited by Ghanaians when news broke of his illness and the prayers they offered to get him back on his feet.

Dr Bawumia reported to work on Friday, 19 January 2018 unwell and subsequently left Ghana for the UK for medical leave.
