Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has pledged to dutifully discharge his duty as Vice President with excellence and remain committed to contribute his part to creating a better Ghanaian society.
In reference to the motto of his former Hall of Residence, the Legon Hall of the University of Ghana, the Vice President said he recognized the exigencies of his new assignment and reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to duty and live by the confidence reposed in him.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur, the immediate past Governor of the Bank of Ghana, gave the assurance when a delegation from the Old Legon Hall Students Association paid a courtesy call on him in his office in Accra to congratulate him on his new position.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur expressed his appreciation for the courtesy call, stated the motto of the Hall - to whom much is given, much is expected – and said to live by the motto required hard work and excellence.
He urged the university and other educational institutions to explore additional and innovative sources of generating revenue rather than relying solely on Government.
The delegation, led by Prof. David Atta-Peters, Legon Hall Master, briefed the Vice President on the recent celebration of 60th anniversary celebrations of the hall.
The delegation commended vice President Amissah-Arthur for his assistance in the putting up of the Economic Hall at Legon and requested his assistance in other projects in the name of the Hall.
The delegation further asked the support of the Vice President to complete the College of Health Sciences Building and other projects that should be named after the late President John Atta Mills who spent more than a quarter of a century imparting knowledge at the Legon campus.
