Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Sunday left Accra for Abuja-Nigeria, to attend a Special Summit of the Africa Union.
A statement issued by the office of the Vice President said, the summit which ends on Tuesday, 16th July, would focus on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The Summit is on the theme: “Ownership, Accountability and Sustainability of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Response in Africa: past, present and future”.
The statement said the summit would review the efforts of the continent in addressing HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and their impact on the health, financing and government systems.
“It will also look at the status of maternal newborn and child health on the continent as well as efforts aimed at achieving the health-related millennium development goals and defining Africa’s health priorities as the dialogue for the post 2015 development agenda unfolds”, it said.
The statement said Vice President Amissah-Arthur would also hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit and would return on Tuesday 16th July.
