Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The Ministry of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City on Thursday denied that Vice President Aliu Mahama's convoy killed a little girl at Assin Manso last Sunday at the end of the durbar marking Emancipation Day. "The headline and story are both untrue," a statement signed by Ms Victoria Antwi Sarpong, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said of the story published in the Ghanaian Voice.

The statement said the vehicle that knocked down the girl belonged to a lady who works in the tourism industry and whose vehicle took off long after the Vice President's convoy had left the durbar grounds. "The girl who was rushed to the Assin Fosu hospital had regained consciousness by the time the police vehicle, which conveyed her there, arrived at the Out-Patients Department. She sustained a cut on the head, which was stitched by the nurses on duty.

"Indeed, the girl has been discharged from the hospital and is currently at home with her parents."
